As Newcastle United deal with the fallout of their draw with Tottenham Hotspur, the fans have spoken and decided their Man of the Match from the game.

It was a rollercoaster ride of a game, with a fairly dull first half before an explosion of goals, twists, and controversies by the end.

Newcastle United can be frustrated they didn’t hold onto their lead, having dominated for most of the game.

14 games in, how are you feeling about Newcastle’s start to the Premier League season? 👀

The good news is we can’t go any lower in the table tonight. We could actually move up to 12th if Arsenal beat Brentford!

Bruno Guimaraes said his side threw away two points on the night, and he has a point. Alan Shearer was disappointed, too, lamenting the way Newcastle defended and conceded soft goals.

Still, there was lots to be positive about. Anthony Gordon played well, for a start. Lewis Miley stood out again, too. But, one player earned the ultimate accolade.

Lewis Hall wins Man of the Match poll

In our post-match player ratings for Newcastle, we picked out Bruno Guimaraes as the star of the game. The Brazilian came off the bench at half-time and gave his team the lead while influencing the match from the central area.

But, Newcastle fans had other ideas when it comes to naming their Man of the Match, with Lewis Hall winning the poll we put to Geordie Boot Boys readers.

Hall got 97 of the 219 votes cast, giving him a 44.29% majority. Guimaraes was his nearest competitor with 84 votes giving him a respectable 38.36% share of the votes.

The pair were leagues ahead of the rest of their teammates. Nick Woltemade got 11 votes (5.02%), while Gordon got 9 (4.11%).

To be fair to Hall, he was brilliant on the night. Defensively he was solid, he carried the ball forward well, and played with intensity and energy throughout.

Spurs fans drool over Bruno Guimaraes display

It was a real surprise to see Bruno Guimaraes on the bench, but when he came on at the interval, he showed Eddie Howe the error of his ways.

And, while Newcastle fans may not have chosen him as their Man of the Match, there have been plenty of Tottenham fans raving about Guimaraes after the game.

We paid £40m for Bruno Guimaraes – just how much is he worth now? 🫨

Since his first start in March 2022, Bruno Guimaraes has been left out of Newcastle United’s Premier League starting XI on just 10 occasions.

The Magpies have not won a single one of those games!

Spurs supporters would love to sign Guimaraes, but obviously they have no hopes of making that happen. He’s the Newcastle captain and the main man at St. James’ Park.

Seeing how frustrated Bruno was after the game speaks volumes for the high standards he sets of himself and his teammates. Now, they all need to step up and hit those levels more regularly.
