Yoane Wissa has offered a major boost to Newcastle United teammate Nick Woltemade.

Wissa is yet to play for Newcastle United, having suffered a knee injury back in September.

Indeed, Wissa is starting a pre-season training programme at Newcastle as the club look to manage his comeback.

This has been the worst injury of Wissa’s career and, as Alexander Isak has shown at Liverpool, players who miss pre-season need time to build up their fitness.

How many games Yoane Wissa missed through injury during his entire Brentford career. How much of a difference could he have made?

Sums up Newcastle United’s bad luck… 😡

2021-22 season – 8 games

2022-23 season – 0 games

2023-24 season – 0 games

2024-25 season – 8 games

As such, a lot of pressure has been put on Woltemade. The German has largely had to start every meaningful game this season with little back-up.

However, Wissa’s return to the Newcastle United training ground is a major boost.

Yoane Wissa trains with Newcastle United teammates for the first time

According to The Daily Mail, Wissa trained alongside the rest of the Newcastle United squad for the first time this week.

Though he will not be risked in Saturday’s game against Everton, the DR Congo international was kicking a ball alongside his teammates during training.

That is believed to have been met with huge relief within the club, with the forward’s comeback consistently delayed thus far.

All being well, Wissa could be ready in time for Newcastle’s trip to Sunderland in mid-December.

That’s a major boost for Woltemade, who could soon have some high-level cover and competition at last.

This is what Newcastle United fans can look forward to when Yoane Wissa FINALLY returns from injury…

Newcastle United’s reaction to Yoane Wissa return says a lot

Wissa has been frustrated by his injury at Newcastle, while the club themselves must have been too.

Indeed, while there’s no one to blame given the freak nature of Wissa’s knee injury, it has still been a major talking point.

Newcastle paid an awful lot of money to sign Wissa, and he does not boast much in the way of resale value given his age.

The constant delaying of his return has been hugely frustrating and the fact the club are relieved says an awful lot about the situation as a whole.

It seems one milestone has been reached. Hopefully, there are no further setbacks.
