Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has given an update on Lewis Hall ahead of Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace.

There was concern when Lewis Hall went down with an injury during Newcastle’s 3-1 win over Burnley. The left-back looked set to be replaced by Alex Murphy after hurting his foot, only to go on and play the full 90 minutes at Turf Moor.

Speaking to the media after the game, Hall hoped he would be fine to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.

If you could make one demand of Eddie Howe before Newcastle United play Crystal Palace – what would it be?

That looks like it will be the case, with Eddie Howe providing a positive injury update on the 21-year-old during his pre-match press conference.

“He [Hall] should be OK,” he said via Newcastle’s official X account.

“We’ll have a closer look at him today.

“He’s an important player for us. He’s technically excellent. An attacking, front foot defender and he’s only going to get better the more games he plays.

“Fitness wise he’s getting his very best form back. He’s a real talent and we need to try and keep him on the pitch.”

Lewis Hall injury scare sums up why Newcastle United need to be active in January

Lewis Hall has undoubtedly been Newcastle United’s best player during the festive period.

The England international has been exceptional in recent weeks, which made Tuesday night’s injury scare even more terrifying.

Fortunately, Hall is fit and ready to face Crystal Palace. However, what happened against Burnley further strengthens Newcastle’s case to sign a left-back during the January transfer window.

They are attempting to do just that, with Newcastle United interested in signing Dayann Methalie. The 19-year-old Toulouse defender is someone who Toon officials rate very highly, as Ross Wilson eyes his first signing since becoming Newcastle United sporting director.
