Two Newcastle United players hope to return from injury before the end of the season.
The Magpies have four games left before the 2024/25 campaign draws to a close, as Eddie Howe aims to secure Champions League qualification.
Unfortunately, the Newcastle United manager has been rocked by an injury blow.
Joelinton has a knee injury that could force him to sit out the rest of the season. However, the 28-year-old is not giving up hope of a comeback after seeing a specialist.
Jamaal Lascelles in training as he eyes Newcastle United return
Jamaal Lascelles is also eyeing a return, more than 12 months since his last Newcastle United appearance.
The club captain suffered an ACL injury on March 30th 2024, and has not played since.
But Lascelles is hoping that a return is looming, with the Chronicle reporting that he trained on the grass with the rest of his Newcastle United teammates.
The Chronicle add that Lascelles wants to make at least one appearance before the season ends.
There had been fears that the 31-year-old would become a free agent this summer. However, it has been reported that Lascelles signed a contract extension to keep him at St James’ Park until 2026.
Newcastle United teenager trains with the first-team
Also in Newcastle United training ahead of facing Brighton is Alfie Harrison.
The 19-year-old has been spotted running alongside senior Toon stars in a video on Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie’s YouTube channel.
The teenager is yet to make his competitive debut for the Magpies, but did appear in pre-season last summer for Eddie Howe’s side.
The midfielder is a very exciting talent, having arrived from Manchester City in January 2023.
Harrison has done well for the Newcastle Under-21s this season, and will be keen to make an impression at senior level in the not too distant future.
