Newcastle United are interested in Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, who has now spoken about the prospect of a move to England.
Central midfield is one of the areas in which Newcastle United could strengthen during the January transfer window, particularly if there’s a departure.
Joe Willock has been linked with a move away from the club, as has Joelinton.
As it stands, Willock seems like the more likely one to leave, although there is no absolute guarantee that will happen.
Sign a new right winger in January or wait for Anthony Elanga to come good?
For a minute, in this make believe fantasy land, let's forget about PSR 😂
Still, Newcastle are on the hunt for potential additions.
Geordie Boot Boys understands that Newcastle want to sign Kees Smit, although they are set to face intense competition on that front.
As such, Newcastle have considered a move for Monaco star Camara as a potential alternative.
Still, Sunderland are also keen.
Sunderland make move to sign Lamine Camara
Interestingly, according to TEAMtalk, Sunderland have made a move to sign him.
The Black Cats are enjoying a fine return to the Premier League and what happened between the two rivals on the pitch earlier this month does not need going over again.
Sunderland are ready to make ambitious moves in the transfer market as a result.
Who was the worst manager in Newcastle United’s Premier League history and why?

Back in March, Geordie Boot Boys also revealed that Camara has been compared to former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and was known to former Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell.
It remains to be seen if Monaco could be tempted into a midseason sale, although they are a club who consistently cash in on their best young players.
Lamine Camara open to Premier League move in 2026
The 21-year-old is currently away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Earlier this month, he spoke to The Guardian in a wide-ranging interview, including about his long-term future.
Camara, who joined Monaco from Metz, admitted that he is currently happy at Monaco but could address the idea of a move to the Premier League at the end of the season.
“For now, I am really happy at Monaco,” he said.
“I feel really at ease here: the players are kind and ambitious, and I have a manager who trusts me. I follow the Premier League a lot – everyone does. I’m not thinking about changing clubs but we will see what happens at the end of the season.”
