Anthony Gordon reportedly has eyes on leaving the Premier League altogether if he is to depart from Newcastle United this summer.

Even a few months out from what promises to be another dramatic summer transfer window, Gordon has been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Arsenal’s interest in the player is long-standing, while Gordon is a boyhood Liverpool supporter.

Still, it seems a move to Bayern is currently his preferred outcome.

Gordon inspired by Michael Olise success at Bayern

According to Sky Sports Switzerland, winger Gordon has told people close to him that he’d be open to joining Bayern.

The report adds that the success Michael Olise has enjoyed in Bavaria is a big reason for that.

Olise, of course, went from a very good Premier League player at Crystal Palace to being talked about as one of the best forwards in the world during his time at Bayern.

The cruel irony is that Newcastle tried to sign Olise before he joined Bayern from Palace.

Selling to Bayern would be more palatable for Newcastle United fans

The prospect of Gordon playing against Newcastle United for a rival Premier League club is a concern.

They, after all, are the team who pushed hardest to sign him from Everton and it is Eddie Howe who has turned him into an England international.

With that in mind, selling him to Bayern would surely be the most palatable outcome for Newcastle fans.

That way, he’d be relatively out of mind and out of sight.

On paper, and pending a substantial fee for Newcastle United, it could be a move that works out for all parties.

Gordon has been a successful signing for Newcastle but has struggled to scale the heights he managed during his first full season at the club back in 2023/24.
