Bruno Guimaraes has added another Brazil cap to his collection, but the Newcastle United captain could not end the international break with another win.
After Bruno Guimaraes impressed against Senegal on Saturday, he was in action for the Selecao yet again on Tuesday night.
The 28-year-old was named in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI for a friendly against Tunisia, which actually took place at the Emirates Stadium in London.
Bruno and co were held to a 1-1 draw at Arsenal’s home, with the Newcastle United midfielder taken off after 60 minutes. He was replaced by best friend Lucas Paqueta, who went on to miss a 78th minute penalty that would have won the game for Brazil.

Bruno Guimaraes given 6/10 after Brazil display
Having played so well against Senegal at the weekend, this was a less impactful performance from Bruno.
That was the view of the Brazilian media, with Globo Esporte giving him a score of 6/10. Three players got a higher rating, with Eder Militao and Rodrygo getting 6.5 and goalscorer Estevao receiving a 7/10.
Globo wrote on Bruno: “He wasn’t as influential as in other matches during the Ancelotti era. He offered many options through the middle with positioning between the lines and attempts to infiltrate, but there were many players in front of the Tunisian penalty area, which made it very difficult for them to attack down that flank.”
Goal had a similar view on Bruno’s performance, also giving him a rating of 6/10. They felt he could have done more, as Brazil were held to a draw by the 43rd best team in the world.
On Bruno’s display, Goal added: “Got into the right areas but could have done more with the possession he had.”
Bruno Guimaraes sends Instagram message ahead of Newcastle United return
Following the draw with Tunisia, Bruno took to his official Instagram account to send a message.
Alongside pictures from Tuesday night’s game at the Emirates Stadium, he wrote: “Confidence in work and sure of the walk. We keep preparing, evolving and adjusting what we need. Proud to be present in one more.”
His message received a reply from Chelsea winger and Brazil teammate Estevao, who commented: “Craque.”
Now Bruno will turn his attention back to his domestic duties, as Newcastle United attempt to turn their form around.
Bruno delivered an emotional message after losing to Brentford, admitting this period is one of the toughest of his Toon career.
There needs to be a response, starting at home to Manchester City on Saturday. Bruno will almost certainly start that game, with Eddie Howe boosted by the fact that his captain does not have to travel back from South America on this occasion.
