Newcastle United have dropped a major hint on what kit they will wear against Manchester United on Boxing Day.
Such have been the struggles Newcastle United have endured in away games this season, many fans do not like the idea of the team not wearing their traditional black and white stripes.
Indeed, many Newcastle fans think their green away kit is cursed, with some of their very worst performances this season coming while they’ve been wearing it.
If Nick Pope is fit for the Manchester United game, who would you start in goal? 🤔
Has Aaron Ramsdale really been that good? 👀
Newcastle’s blue third kit for the 2025/26 season hasn’t fared much better and was, of course, what they were wearing during the miserable defeat at rivals Sunderland earlier this month.
With that in mind, a post from the club’s official Twitter account should serve as good news for Toon fans.

Newcastle United set to wear black and white home kit against Manchester United
Newcastle do generally wear their home kit at Old Trafford but there have been occasions this season where they’ve strayed from tradition.
At Aston Villa, for example, Newcastle wore their green kit despite playing in their home kit there as recently as January 2024.
They were also wearing green for the trip to West Ham but wore their home kit for a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium in 2023.
However, it doesn’t seem as if tradition will be broken on Boxing Day.
Ahead of the game, the club posted a graphic building up to the clash that showed Joelinton wearing Newcastle’s home kit.
Looks like we’re wearing black and white at Old Trafford – what will the score be? 😍
The only other time Newcastle United have worn their home kit in an away game this season
This could be only the second time this season that Newcastle have worn their home kit in an away game.
Eddie Howe’s side were wearing black and white for their 4-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League back in October, albeit with white shorts.
They have not yet worn their home kit in an away game in the Premier League this season.
Obviously, it doesn’t really matter what kit Newcastle are wearing if they do not show up, but the omens are certainly better when they wear black and white.
Newcastle did beat Everton while wearing green back in November but then dropped points in green away at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. They haven’t won at all in blue.
Hopefully, Newcastle’s game against Manchester United doesn’t end in familiar away day misery.
