Newcastle United’s trip to Brighton on Sunday is a huge game.
While Newcastle United got back to winning ways on Saturday by beating Ipswich, Eddie Howe’s side face another massive Premier League assignment.
Indeed, the Premier League table is remarkably congested towards the top five as a number of teams battle it out for Champions League qualification. Such are the tight margins involved, it means there is little margin for error.
The Seagulls are a good side, too. Already this season, they’ve beaten Newcastle in the Premier League while knocking them out of the FA Cup.
Indeed, it seems the south coast outfit are getting something of a helping hand from a Premier League legend in the form of Yaya Toure.

Yaya Toure’s shock role ahead of Brighton vs Newcastle
According to The Argus, former Manchester City star Toure was visiting Brighton’s training ground in Lancing this week.
The three-time Premier League-winner spoke to Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, as well as the team’s African players.
Toure, who retired in 2019, was also present at a recent training session at the Amex Stadium, where Newcastle are headed on Sunday.

Speaking on Thursday, Hurzeler said: “For me, he was a great player, therefore we have two aspects why he was here.
“The first one, of course, he has a good relationship with the African players, and I think that’s very important that we have someone there who can talk with the players, who has an understanding of where they come from.
“How is the culture there? What are their needs? And I think that’s something where I also can learn something because honestly I’ve never been.
“I think that’s some something I want to do in future, to visit the countries of the African players, but he can give me some insights.
“On the other side, he was a great player, so he can give me, and also the players some small pieces of advice, what it takes to be on the highest level, what it needs to get there, and therefore we had a really interesting exchange, although I didn’t have that much time with him, I took away a lot of things and for sure we stay in touch and let’s see how this relationship continues.”

The Amex Stadium has not been a happy hunting ground for Newcastle in the Premier League era.
In fact, Newcastle have never won at the ground since Brighton were promoted to the topflight alongside the Magpies in 2017.
The last time Newcastle tasted victory there, Mo Diame’s freak goal against Brighton sealed a 2-1 victory in the Championship.

With that in mind, it’s hard to feel too confident about Sunday’s game. Joelinton will miss the rest of the season for Newcastle too, complicating matters even further.
Hopefully, whatever Toure said to the Brighton players does not come back to haunt Howe’s side…
