Gary Neville and Roy Keane have both predicted the same outcome for Brentford vs Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Magpies head to West London in search of their first away win in the Premier League this season, having failed to pick up what was an expected victory on the other side of the capital last weekend.

Newcastle United were shocking against West Ham, with that defeat putting Eddie Howe’s side under even more pressure heading to the Gtech Community Stadium.

It is a must-win game for Newcastle, but that is not what Gary Neville or Roy Keane expect to happen.

Newcastle United predicted to draw with Brentford

Speaking on the latest episode of the Stick To Football podcast, Neville has predicted the score of Brentford vs Newcastle United.

“I was worried about Newcastle against West Ham on Sunday,” he said.

“They were awful. I was really frustrated with them. They were really bad.

“1-1 [for Brentford vs Newcastle].”

Roy Keane agreed on the result, but predicted a 2-2 draw instead.

Since Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League, there has only been one draw between the Magpies and the Bees. That came in November 2021, in what was Howe’s first game as Newcastle United manager.

However, Howe was famously absent at St James’ Park due to suffering from COVID.

Newcastle United’s impressive record away to Brentford

While Newcastle United have been poor away from home in the Premier League, they do have a decent record at the Gtech Community Stadium.

They have won three out of four games away to Brentford in the Premier League, with their only defeat coming last season.

SeasonResult
2021/22Brentford 0 Newcastle 2
2022/23Brentford 1 Newcastle 2
2023/24Brentford 2 Newcastle 4
2024/25Brentford 4 Newcastle 2

That was a 4-2 defeat that resulted in Eddie Howe’s side receiving serious criticism from the likes of Alan Shearer. The Magpies were called out for only delivering in the ‘big games’, before falling short of expectations against teams like Brentford.

After that defeat to Brentford, Newcastle went on a nine-game winning run that galvanised what would eventually be the club’s best season ever.
