There is a concern over Tino Livramento’s long-term future at Newcastle United.

The 23-year-old has become one of Newcastle United’s most important players, developing into a real star since his £32million arrival from Southampton in 2023.

The Magpies recognise him as that, and want to reward him. Newcastle want Tino Livramento to sign a new contract, with his current deal running until 2028.

But as Ross Wilson attempts to tie down one of Eddie Howe’s key players, a problem has emerged. It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Livramento wants to delay contract talks until the end of the season.

Manchester City wanted Livramento in the summer, and their interest is not going away as Pep Guardiola eyes a new right-back.

Newcastle United fans expect Tino Livramento to leave in 2026

It is a worrying situation for Newcastle United fans, who do not want to see Tino Livramento depart St James’ Park.

The story has been met with disappointment from Toon supporters on X, who are concerned that the England international will be the next major name to leave the club after Alexander Isak.

“We’re gonna have another Isak saga,” wrote one Newcastle United fan.

A second Toon supporter added: “Get the £80m and re-invest, nowt else we can do.”

This fan commented: “If we just keep selling the cream to the big fat cats, we will never catch them. Tino and Hall should be integral to our team for the next 7 years!”

A fourth member of the Toon Army posted: “Hopefully we handle it better than the Isak situation. If he decides he’d rather play for Man City (who would blame him) then we need to get as many €€€€€ as we can for him.”

“Tino’s gone unfortunately, City will offer him 200k plus a week,” added this concerned fan.

A fifth Newcastle supporter commented: “He’s off, waiting to see if we can get Europe next season.”

Finally, this fan simply wrote on X: “There’s another one off then.”

Champions League qualification could save Newcastle United and Tino Livramento

Like every big player at St James’ Park, Newcastle’s chances of keeping Livramento largely hinge on qualifying for Europe – ideally the Champions League.

The best players want to be competing in the biggest games, and that means representing a club that consistently takes part in the Champions League.

Newcastle are trying to become that, but it will be extremely difficult. Eddie Howe’s side are already struggling to juggle multiple competitions this season, and remain on the periphery of the race to qualify for Europe.

If the worst does happen and Livramento does decide to leave, the one thing supporters will hope for is that the club handles it better than the Alexander Isak situation. That was an absolute mess that had major repercussions.

Newcastle United do not want a repeat of that in 2026.
