Newcastle United’s win over Manchester City on Saturday came after another ineffective performance from Alexander Isak for Liverpool.
Isak has still only scored one goal since leaving Newcastle United for Liverpool for a British record fee in September.
Nine appearances across all competitions haven’t yielded much from the most expensive player in Premier League history.
Indeed, Newcastle so far look the biggest winners from the Isak saga. Replacement Nick Woltemade is one of Europe’s form strikers, even if the team behind him haven’t always convinced.
Isak has struggled for Liverpool and could not do much to help them avoid a dismal 3-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday at Anfield.
Following that defeat, Isak made some unwanted history.

Alexander Isak becomes first Liverpool player in Premier League history to lose his first four starts for the club
Isak let the Newcastle fans down when leaving the club back in September, with his money-spinning move to Anfield coming off the back of an ugly transfer saga.
While not many fans would have blamed the striker for wanting to leave after two brilliant seasons, the manner in which he did it left a sour taste in the mouth on Tyneside.
Who will finish on more goals in all competitions this season?
As such, Toon fans can perhaps be forgiven for taking at least some delight from his current struggles.
By starting the defeat to Forest, Isak officially became the first Liverpool player in Premier League history to lose all of his first four starts for the club, according to Opta.
Alexander Isak slammed for latest Liverpool performance
A player as good as Isak will surely click at some point. That did not happen against Forest, though.
In fact, BBC Sport’s chief football writer wrote of his performance: “If I had said Isak had done nothing today I would not be exaggerating.
His struggles do bring into sharp focus the risks of missing pre-season. Yoane Wissa would be wise to be paying close attention after doing something similar with Brentford.
Granted, Wissa cannot have done much about his injury and his lack of pre-season didn’t really count for much given the freak nature of it.
However, when he is fit, Wissa should be aware of what Isak is going through. It could easily happen to him.
