Newcastle United fans inside St James’ Park sent Eddie Howe a clear message immediately after kick-off against Fulham.

It was unclear what the mood within St James’ Park would be like after Newcastle United’s defeat to Sunderland, as Eddie Howe and his players prepared to go again in the Carabao Cup.

There has been plenty of frustration towards the Newcastle United manager and his players for what happened at the Stadium of Light, but that frustration was nowhere to be seen on Wednesday night.

Newcastle United beat Fulham 2-1 to advance to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, as Toon fans showed Howe some love as soon as the game kicked off.

Who was your MOTM against Fulham? For what it’s worth, I thought Jacob Ramsey was very good 😍😍

Newcastle United fans immediately chant Eddie Howe’s name after Sunderland defeat

Within seconds of the Carabao Cup quarter-final starting, the Toon Army let Eddie Howe know how they really feel after losing the Tyne-Wear derby.

There were immediate chants of ‘Eddie Howe’s black and white army’ in the first minute of the game, as supporters backed the manager to bounce back from Sunday’s embarrassment.

Bruno called on Newcastle to be united, and this was an early indication that the fans would not be turning. Of course there was and still is anger about losing the derby, but Newcastle must move on.

They were able to do that, and the chants for Howe grew louder just a few minutes later.

By full-time it was Lewis Miley’s name being sung, as his 92nd minute header sent them through to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

Newcastle United will face Manchester City in the final four, as they continue their defence of the trophy they won in March.

What’s your early prediction? Are we set to return to Wembley?

What Wor Flags did before Newcastle United’s win over Fulham

Before the game, there was anticipation to see what Wor Flags’ message would be after losing the derby.

Immediately after the Sunderland defeat, they wrote on X: “No urgency. No hunger. No identity. Unacceptable.”

As the Newcastle United squad entered the pitch to face Fulham on Wednesday night, they were met with banners of two faces in the Gallowgate. Wor Flags put Eddie Howe and Bruno Guimaraes side by side, the gaffer and the skipper.

It came after Howe disagreed with Bruno’s reaction to losing to Sunderland, with the midfielder describing it as a ‘mess’.
