Lewis Hall’s brilliant performance for Newcastle United against Manchester City on Saturday attracted the interest of some England fans online.
While England look to be in a strong place ahead of next summer’s World Cup under Thomas Tuchel, the left-back role looks up for grabs.
Newcastle stars Hall and Tino Livramento are both options, though the latter is right-footed.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has played there under Tuchel but isn’t getting much game time at Arsenal right now.
Djed Spence and Nico O’Reilly have both been given chances but aren’t natural left-backs.
Hall was brilliant for Newcastle against Manchester City and Three Lions fans online believe he can still make a late run for next summer’s World Cup squad.

England fans want Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall to go to the World Cup
Hall is highly rated by the FA and has previously played for both Tuchel and England.
It was the German who handed the 21-year-old his professional debut while Chelsea manager back in 2022, after all.
Should England take Lewis Hall to the 2026 World Cup?
Following a brilliant season last time out, Hall was awarded two England caps by Lee Carsley in November 2024 but injuries have since derailed his progress.
However, having returned to form against City, England fans on social media platform X are calling for Tuchel to pick him ahead of the World Cup.
“Lewis Hall is going to be starting LB for England at the World Cup and everyone’s going to like it,” wrote another fan.
One supporter said: “If he can stay fit then Lewis Hall has to be going to the World Cup for me.”
Another wrote: “Lewis Hall take a bow son, should be England’s starting LB for me.”
Thomas Tuchel to hold talks with Newcastle United star Lewis Hall imminently
Despite seeing injury prevent him from adding to his two caps this season, Tuchel is planning to speak to Hall about his England chances.
The Three Lions boss will reportedly speak to both Hall and Livramento as he looks to keep in contact with around 60 players before naming his squad.
It’s difficult to imagine Hall not going to the World Cup if he can stay fit.
Reminder: Paul Mitchell once thought that Newcastle United overspent on Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall.
He enjoyed a rapid rise last season and only injury prevented him from making that spot his own at international level.
Luke Shaw has been a fine player for England over the years but no longer appears to be in the picture under Tuchel.
It’s time for Hall to take his rightful place as England’s left-back for many years to come.
