Yoane Wissa is celebrating a perfect first Premier League start for Newcastle United.

The 29-year-old was picked to play up front ahead of Nick Woltemade against Burnley, and it did not take him long to justify Eddie Howe’s decision.

Yoane Wissa scored in the seventh minute of Newcastle United’s 3-1 win over Burnley, grabbing a poacher’s goal to take his Toon tally to two.

Both of Wissa’s Newcastle United goals have been instinctive penalty box strikes, which is exactly what they missed during his absence.

The £55million man is finally up and running in black and white in the Premier League, and immediately took to social media to toast a positive end to 2025.

While the start of his Newcastle United career has been challenging, Wissa has rounded out 2025 in style.

He played a key role in Newcastle’s win over Burnley, and was quick to send supporters a message via his official Instagram account.

Following the victory at Turf Moor, Wissa wrote on Instagram: “PERSONALITY! Thank you Geordies for your amazing support tonight.”

Wissa’s post received a reply from Bruno Guimaraes, who also scored in Newcastle’s win against the Clarets.

The Brazilian midfielder commented: “Allez frerot.”

That translates from French to ‘Come on brother’.

That is something Bruno will hopefully say to Wissa a lot more in 2026, as the Magpies’ number nine continues attempting to justify his £55million price tag.

What do you think is more important – the performance or the result?

We won't win many more away games if we're that open again…

Yoane Wissa wildly celebrated Newcastle United’s win over Burnley

This is a huge three points for Newcastle United. It ends a run of three Premier League games without a win, while it is also just their second away win in the Premier League this season.

While the performance was concerning, the magnitude of the result cannot be overstated. That was not lost on Wissa, who was overjoyed after the full-time whistle.

The striker could be seen hugging Eddie Howe on the touchline, before doing it again as the Newcastle United manager headed onto the pitch to congratulate his players.

Wissa then greeted Bruno Guimaraes with a special handshake, with their goals lifting the Magpies into the top half of the table.
