Newcastle United fans are yet to see Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa in action together.

That is because of Yoane Wissa’s injury, with a knee problem delaying the £55million forward’s Toon debut.

In turn, there has been pressure on Nick Woltemade to lead the line for Newcastle United every week. It is pressure he has coped with, but he certainly could benefit from having someone to share the load with.

That is easy to see from the outside looking in, but it is also a view shared by Newcastle United’s most expensive signing ever.

Nick Woltemade wants to play alongside Yoane Wissa at Newcastle United

Nick Woltemade has been speaking about his start to life at Newcastle United, admitting to ESPN that he did not think he would play quite as much as he has had to.

That has not been a problem for the big man, but he is also looking forward to the looming return of Yoane Wissa.

“I was expecting it,” he said when asked about playing so many games.

“Not like I play every game, but sometimes with Wissa or Osula. Sometimes I thought we could change sometimes because I play a lot of games.

“This is the first time for me I’m playing in the rhythm of every three days. I’m really happy I play every game and I still want to play every game.

I’m also really happy if Wissa is coming back and I think we can also play really good together maybe and I think then the situation for sometimes you don’t feel so good in the game then maybe some other striker can come in and help each other together so we get more power and I think I’m really excited for the guys to come back.”

Playing with Yoane Wissa could make Nick Woltemade even better

Woltemade has coped with leading the line at Newcastle United on his own, but is understandably looking forward to having Wissa back. They will be able to dovetail and compete, which should get the best out of both of them.

But Eddie Howe also has the option of playing them together, which is something he must explore. Newcastle think Woltemade could benefit from a strike partner, and that theory could soon be put to the test.

It has been reported that Wissa could return against Everton on 29th November, as he steps up his recovery from a knee injury.

The 29-year-old’s return could be a pivotal moment for Woltemade, as his style of play looks perfectly suited to having another striker alongside him. His creative tendencies and desire to drop deep should complement Wissa’s poaching ability.

Woltemade is already doing well for Newcastle United, but he could do even better alongside Wissa.
