Newcastle United maintained their unbeaten run in competitive fixtures at St. James' Park after an impressive 3-0 win over Burnley Women, and maintained their spot at the top of Barclays WSL2.
A dominant first-half performance ensured that United just had to control and dictate the second 45 minutes, something they did perfectly. A third league goal of the season for Kathleen McGovern put the Lasses ahead, before former Magpies Deanna Cooper turned the ball into her own net at the near post to double the lead.
Burnley failed to truly test United, with Kayla Rendell not forced into any saves throughout the game, and after Martha Thomas’ ninth strike across all competitions, it was the end of the contest.
