Friday morning saw confirmation that Aladji Bamba has moved from Monaco to Newcastle United.

Having turned 20 earlier this month, Aladji Bamba deciding his future lies with Newcastle United.
The Ligue 1 club have now given their official reaction to losing the 6ft 4 defensive midfielder: ‘AS Monaco announces the transfer of midfielder Aladji Bamba, a product of La Diagonale, to Premier League side Newcastle United. Having joined the Club in 2021, the Blois-born midfielder, who turned 20 on July 14, is a true product of La Diagonale. A winner of the 2023 Coupe Gambardella under the guidance of Frédéric Barilaro alongside Pape Cabral, Ilane Touré and Lucas Michal, Aladji Bamba enjoyed an excellent 2023-24 campaign with the U19s before joining the Elite Group in 2024-25.’
AS Monaco going on to say: ‘Following a series of impressive performances, the towering midfielder (1.94m) earned a call-up to the France U20 national team for the Maurice Revello Tournament, which he went on to win with Les Bleuets. At the start of the 2025-26 season, Aladji joined the first-team squad and made his professional debut in the famous diagonal shirt on August 16, 2025, during AS Monaco’s Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre. On September 13, he made his first league start away to Auxerre, delivering an impressive display, before experiencing UEFA Champions League football for the first time a few days later against Club Brugge.’
Newcastle United on Friday morning announced that Aladji Bamba had signed a five year contract.
Whilst NUFC gave the usual ‘undisclosed fee’, Sky Sports reported it was a £35.5m deal, with a £30m initial transfer fee and a potential extra £5.5m in future add-ons.
As Monaco then adding: ‘With two assists in 25 appearances with AS Monaco, Aladji quickly established himself as a valued member of the first team. Having made rapid and consistent progress since arriving at the Club, Aladji is now set to discover the Premier League with Newcastle United, who finished 12th in England last season. AS Monaco would like to thank Aladji for his years at the Club and wishes him every success for the next chapter of his career.’
