Aladji Bamba is now on Tyneside to complete his move from Monaco to Newcastle United.
Things have moved fast.
It was only Thursday morning that we saw breaking news in France that a deal had been agreed between Monaco and Newcastle United for the transfer of Aladji Bamba who turned 20 earlier this month.
Aladji Bamba then flew in later on Thursday to take his medical.
Now Sky Sports have given a breakdown of the deal agreed between the two clubs. Keith Downie covers Newcastle United for the broadcaster and he says their information is that the transfer is for £35.5m in total, with an initial guaranteed transfer fee of £30m and then another £5.5m in potential future add-ons.
Following his medical he will finalise the transfer and sign a long-term contract, then once Newcastle United have prepared all their usual media stuff including interviews with the latest signing, he will then be formally announced.
After turning 19 in July 2025, Aladji Bamba made his senior debut for Monaco. He went on to make 23 appearances across the 2025/26 season in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
Aladji Bamba will become the fourth new Newcastle United arrival into the first team squad, following Ewen Jaouen, Bazoumana Toure and Sean Steur into St James’ Park.
BBC Sport reported on Thursday that: ‘Among Ligue 1 midfielders who played at least 500 minutes last season, Bamba ranked in the top five for duels won (9.1 per game on average), tackles (3.6), successful take-ons (1.6) and aerial duels won (1.9).’
Aladji Bamba is one of the nominees for the Golden Boy award, which honours the best Under 21 player in Europe.
Bamba has played through the various youth levels with France, and is currently playing for the Under 20s.
