What a season for Newcastle United.
Fatigue well and truly having a devastating impact.
Already 45 Newcastle United matches played.
Impossible for it not to have a huge negative impact.
Crawling from one match to the next.
Weekend – Midweek – Weekend – Midweek – Weekend – Midweek – And so on.
Exhausting.
Rarely another Newcastle United season anything like it, so little recovery and reset time between matches.
On top of 28 Premier League matches, already 17 others – 10 Champions League, five League Cup and two FA Cup.
Nobody can seriously say this doesn’t then play a major part in the way that some matchdays end up turning out.
Newcastle United already guaranteed a minimum of 58 matches this season, could even end up (hopefully…) in the 60s!
That is quite literally a season and a half’s worth of matches fitted into one season, compared to what Newcastle United were once used to. Indeed, it is one and a half times what the likes of Manchester United are experiencing, only 40 games for Man U this season in all competitions.
I think this season it is both Newcastle United mental and physical fatigue.
Getting those energy levels rebooted, getting the refocussed mental side of things right.
Another match only three days away, four if lucky.
So literally, almost this entire Newcastle United season has been a case of:
A day preparing for match – The match day – Recovery day – A day preparing for match – The Match day – Recovery day – And so on.
It has been relentless.
Yes, as Newcastle United fans this is proving an incredibly difficult season to battle through.
We can only imagine what it is like for the Newcastle United players…
