We have now seen eight Newcastle United players selected to be at the 2026 World Cup finals.
In less than three weeks time the tournament kicks off on Thursday 11 June and then lasts almost six weeks before ending with the World Cup final on Sunday 19 July.
Friday morning has seen Thomas Tuchel name his 26 players (see below), his England World Cup squad.
Amongst the 26 selected are these three Newcastle United players – Dan Burn, Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon.
The most notable absentee from an NUFC perspective is Lewis Hall.
Thomas Tuchel talking after his England World Cup squad was revealed: “It comes down to who do we really trust? Who delivered? Who helped with the culture? Who are the leaders? It is about the energy, the connection and the trust.”
In total, that makes it eight Newcastle United players heading to the 2026 World Cup finals.
Julian Nagelsmann selected Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw on Friday.
Previous to that, Bruno Guimaraes chosen by Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Whilst the first two Newcastle United players who had been confirmed for the 2026 World Cup finals were Anthony Elanga for Sweden, Yoane Wissa with DR Congo.

The England World Cup squad will fly to the United States in 10 days time (1 June 2026).
They play friendlies against New Zealand on 6 June and against Costa Rica on 10 June in World Cup warm-up games whilst based at their preparation camp in Florida.
England are in Group L and face Croatia on 17 June, Ghana on 23 June, then play against Panama on 26 June in their final group match.
The top two in each four-team World Cup group automatically progress and then the eight best performing of the twelve teams that end up third in the groups.
