Set to fulfil a dream, lifelong Newcastle United fan Leif Davis finally set to play at St James’ Park.
He played in the 4-0 home defeat to United in the 2024/25 season.
However, Leif Davis was suspended when Ipswich Town lost 3-0 at St James’ Park on 26 April 2025.
With the Premier League fixtures having been announced on Friday, Leif Davis has got the next best thing, Ipswich kicking off the season at home to Sunderland on Saturday 22 August 2026.
Leif Davis reacting: “It’s a nice one…in the Championship a few years ago we had Sunderland away. So to have them at home now is nice for the first game of the season being a Newcastle United fan.”
The 26-year-od Geordie defender adding: “It is one I said to my dad, I hope we get Sunderland home or away, I don’t mind. I wanted Newcastle United as well because I was stupid and got a red card the last time and got suspended when we got to play there. Hopefully this year is not like that and I do get the opportunity to play there.”
As you can see below, Ipswich Town not set to play at St James’ Park until April 2027 in the Premier League.
Leif Davis declaring: “It will be a childhood dream to play at St James’ Park. It might not be for Newcastle United…but to play there, to look at where I sat when I was younger with my cousin and my dad when he used to take me to Europa League games, just to experience that. It did touch me a little bit when I was sat on the bench last time watching the lads, I was gutted.”
