Kieran Trippier has been talking in the aftermath of Saturday’s defeat to Bournemouth.
The visitors leading at half-time and then William Osula equalising midway through the second-half.
Then as United looked the team likely to take all three points, the Cherries breaking and getting the winner with five minutes of normal time remaining.
Kieran Trippier reflecting on the defeat to Bournemouth when speaking to official club media: “Very difficult to take. Any game when you get beat is tough to take. I thought we got back into the game well and we dominated the game, put pressure on them, but we concede the second and then we are chasing and chasing. It’s always difficult when they put everyone behind the ball.”
Kieran Trippier on Newcastle United conceding the late Bournemouth winning goal: “I am not going to stand here and criticise my teammates but it has been a common thing recently where we’ve been conceding late. It is us [as] players who need to take full responsibility for the results. As a senior player, I will take all the criticism. There’s five massive games and every single one of them are like cup finals. We’ve got to start getting wins and fast.”
Kieran Trippier on the manner of the goals conceded on Saturday: “The first was difficult for me to see because I was on the bench but it looked like it got flashed across the six-yard box and it was a tap-in. The second one is stood up to the back post. I’m not going to criticise my teammates. We’re one team and we all take full responsibility.”
In the Premier League at home this 2025/26 season, Newcastle United now have a record of:

Kieran Trippier on this season’s Premier League home form overall: “Over the time I have been here, we have been a real force, especially at home. We have been feared and teams have fear to come here but this season has felt like we fell short of that. I am not going to stand here and make excuses. It’s myself and the players who need to take responsibility.”
Kieran Trippier on what is needed in these remaining five matches for Newcastle United: “We need to win them all. That’s the thought process, it has to be. It’s five massive games. We know where we are in the league. We are disappointed and we know the fans’ frustration as well. We know we can do better.”
