Matthias Jaissle watched on as his Newcastle United team managed to lose 4-1 at the CBS Arena on Monday, despite having far more clear chances than Coventry City.
A bizarre game saw United find so many ingenious ways not to score, whilst the home side punished some poor errors from Hornicek, Hall and Joelinton.
After the match, Matthias Jaissle made clear that whilst five players had been able to get of the treatment room and return to Monday’s matchday squad, only Nico Gonzalez had been fit enough to be under consideration to start the Coventry game.
The United boss saying that the likes of Will Osula, Dan Burn, Amar Dedic and Joelinton are still weeks away from full fitness, despite having managed to get varying numbers of minutes off the bench on Monday night.
Matthias Jaissle in need of some positive news.
That has now come in the form of a much-needed double injury boost.
Craig Hope at The Mail says his info from inside the club is that Anthony Elanga is set to return far sooner than had been originally feared. Rather than missing for months.
The man from The Mail says he has been told that the former Forest winger is now in the final stages of his rehab, that there is realistic hope he will be able to join in with training again shortly and then return to the matchday squads from his hamstring injury in the coming weeks.
His other bit of positive news in this injury update is concerning Bazoumana Toure. The winger came off the bench at Coventry City but then had to be subbed off himself late on, left in agony after he was caught by an opponent on his lower leg. The good news though is that The Mail journalist has been told that Toure is understood to have not picked up a serious injury.
