Eddie Howe speaking at his Newcastle United pre-match press conference ahead of facing Arsenal:
“We are very determined to put things right, to win as many games as we can.”
Eddie Howe on the Newcastle United team mentality:
“The spirit in the group is good, even though it is not the same feeling as when you’re winning. It’s clear there’s been challenges for us, but I don’t see a group that is any way switched off and not ready to play. We know we need to perform, most of all for our supporters.”
Eddie Howe on Arsenal:
“Definitely an opportunity for us, no matter what game you have next, you have a chance to prove yourselves again, and most importantly to ourselves. We need to focus on ourselves; we are looking at how we prepare and plan the game, but also looking at our intent, our attitude.”
Eddie Howe on the return of Bruno Guimaraes:
“He has had a full week of training and trained very well. He was playing on heart and spirit against Bournemouth, and you could see that he was struggling physically at times. He had minimal training, but this week will serve him really well.
He’s such an important player for us on so many levels that of course, we’re keen to get him on the pitch as quickly as possible. I’ve just got to make sure it is not to his detriment. It’s great to have him back around the group, he’s such a positive person.”
Eddie Howe on Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon:
“Tino went for a scan initially, a bad injury. He is due to have another scan at the weekend to determine the full extent of his time out, we will wait and see whether he plays again this season.
Anthony won’t make the game; he hasn’t trained this week. He won’t be fit in time for this game, but hopefully the next one.”
