Tottenham Hotspur are breaking records.
Impressive stuff.
An intriguing tale of Tottenham, Beyonce and Newcastle United.
A few stats.
In 2026, Newcastle United have won twice as many Premier League matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium than Spurs have. Since 6 December 2025, in ten months, United have won twice in the EPL at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Spurs only once.
If you go back over a period of 23 months, since 3 November 2024, Tottenham have won a grand total of five Premier League matches at their stadium, whilst in the same period of time Newcastle United have won three times there. Indeed, when you look (see below) at who Tottenham have actually defeated at home in the last 23 months it is two teams (Burnley and Southampton) that would be relegated, plus Man U, Brentford and Everton. Imagine being one of those clubs, the shame!!
Of course, it all depends on how you measure ‘success’ these days.
In the last 18 months since 6 April 2025, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has witnessed three Spurs wins in the Premier League, two Newcastle United league victories, plus six appearances by Beyonce…
4 January 2025 – Tottenham 1 Newcastle United 2
16 February 2025 – Tottenham 1 Man U 0
6 April 2025 – Tottenham 3 Southampton 1
5 June 2025 – Beyonce
7 June 2025 – Beyonce
10 June 2025 – Beyonce
12 June 2025 – Beyonce
14 June 2025 – Beyonce
16 June 2025 – Beyonce
16 August 2025 – Tottenham 3 Burnley 0
6 December 2025 – Tottenham 2 Brentford 0
10 February 2026 – Tottenham 1 Newcastle 2
24 May 2026 – Tottenham 1 Everton 0
29 August 2026 – Tottenham 0 Newcastle 2
The Tottenham Hotspur official site proudly proclaims:
‘All-time Record Holder
Beyoncé concluded her epic six-night run (on 16 June 2025) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the record-breaking COWBOY CARTER TOUR. The groundbreaking series of concerts welcomed over 275,000 fans and grossed over £45,000,000, making it the most tickets and highest gross for any artist in the stadium’s history.
Beyoncé now holds the all-time records at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for:
Most concerts performed by any artist
Her COWBOY CARTER TOUR shows—held June 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, and 16—surpassed the benchmark she previously set with five sold-out nights during her Renaissance World Tour in 2023, breaking her own all-time record for most performances by any artist at the venue.’
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium seeing records broken, stunning success.
Apart from the football that is.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is one that hosts a variety of events, sporting and music etc, including the Spurs football team playing (and not winning…) there. Rather than a football stadium that also hosts gigs and other sporting events.
Never has a new Premier League stadium brought so much extra money AND so few wins (for the football team).
Since 3 November 2024, Spurs have played 36 Premier League matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and won five of the 36, they have lost 21 and drawn the other 10.
Absolutely hilarious.
Yet just because they had a ludicrously high net spend this summer, paying massively over the odds on all their big signings, such as two Man City reserves, Sandro Tonali and a midfielder who has helped two different clubs be relegated the past two seasons and is now going for the hat-trick…the media were predicting that suddenly Spurs would be finishing top four instead of bottom four (as they have finished the last two seasons) and Spurs fans taunting Newcastle United fans because they had made Tonali the highest paid player in their club’s history and agreed to pay £100m to NUFC.
Here’s hoping that Tottenham can keep on breaking records and hopefully they will make it third time lucky, then be breaking all kinds of records as a Championship club next season.
