The FA Cup quarter-final matches have now been completed this weekend and we have a far clearer picture on the remaining Newcastle United fixtures.
Eddie Howe and his players with seven Premier League matches remaining.
The FA Cup quarter finals showing the following results this weekend:
Manchester City 4 Liverpool 0, Chelsea 7 Port Vale 0, Southampton 2 Arsenal 1, West Ham 2 Leeds 2 AET (Leeds won 4-2 on penalties.
The semi-final draw has been made on Sunday night and it is Chelsea v Leeds and Manchester City v Southampton.
Both West Ham and Arsenal doing Newcastle United a big favour.
This comes as Eddie Howe and his players aim to finish the season in the best way possible, seven Premier League games remaining.
The FA Cup defeats for both the Gunners and Hammers, means that Eddie Howe and Newcastle United will be playing just once a week for the remaining seven PL matches, the NUFC boss having a full week to prepare for each game.
No midweek matches, as Arsenal definitely now host United at the Emirates, 5.30pm on Saturday 25 April. Also, with the Gunners strongly fancied to get past Sporting Lisbon, Arsenal are set to have the first leg of a Champions League semi-final only three or four days after (Tuesday 28 April or Wednesday 29 April) the Newcastle United match.
Whilst if West Ham had got to the FA Cup final, Newcastle’s home game against the Hammers would have ended up midweek.
TV selections still awaited for that 37th round of Premier League matches BUT Newcastle v West Ham will definitely be played on the weekend of Sunday 17 May (No Premier League matches to be played on Saturday 16 May due to the FA Cup final that day).
