Fulham 1 Newcastle United 1 – Saturday 7 November 2026 3pm

Instant fan/writer reaction from some of our regular contributors on The Mag.

Nat Seaton:

‘Had enough chances to win the game without playing well – some good saves and some not so good finnishing.

Unlucky with the goal being disallowed but Wissa gave them the opportunity to rule it out!

Great goal from Murphy but wasn’t enough for us to take all three points as they came straight back.

The game was there for the taking the way Fulham played but I’ll take the point away from home going into the International break.’

Tony Mallabar:

‘Due to a seat picking malfunction, instead of ending up in row kk, we ended up in row k down the front.

Now I’ve been critical of the manager and the players recently but today being close up those boys in blue and white they gave everything.

Unfortunately, due to losing our best players and replacing them with inferior ones, get ready for more days like these.

Our easy run of games is over and genuinely fear for us after the international break..

So well done today NUFC and I am off for the 7.30pm train home.’

Simon Ritter:

‘Better than six months ago.

Wissa and Osula poor. Steur and Hall our best.

Burn disallowed goal summed up Wissa’s day.

Too much hoof ball in the first half. Much better in the second half.

Shame Hall’s late shot fell to his weaker foot.’

Billy Miller:

‘Better than a loss I guess but frustrating we couldn’t see out the victory with ten minutes remaining.

Not feeling positive going into four massive games but at least we get two weeks off.’

Dean Wilkins:

‘I think in the circumstances the team did well.

Can’t complain about the commitment and on another day we could have scored three or four.

This referee is always terrible for us and every chance he got he didn’t give things our way.

If playing with confidence I think we’d have taken our chances.

I thought Steur, Hornicek and Hall were very good.’

Jamie Smith:

‘Much better than Monday but that wasn’t too hard.

United seem better set up as a counter attacking away side but still things not right.

Hornicek pulled off a number of quality saves amd it took a scorching goal from Murphy to break through amongst a series of poorly executed attacking play.

Given Fulham didn’t look outstanding the poor goal immediately conceded was a clanger we can ill afford at present.

Ominous fixtures after the international break and still not a lot to be confident about.’

David Punton:

‘Would have taken a draw but we really ought to have won that game.

Talk about missed chances!

Barnes, Hall, Wissa and Osula all guilty of misses that would have sealed it.

The wider worry is we’re all a bit weak.

Thanks go to Hornicek for all those saves, he’s earned his corn today.

It’s better than getting beat but question marks remain about the manager in my humble opinion.

A great goal from Jacob Murphy today.’

GToon:

‘At least we didn’t lose.

That’s all I can say really.

Am seriously losing hope with this set up from top to bottom. Just need another 29 points.’

Matt Busby said…:

‘We came close to securing all three points, which is frustrating, but a draw is what I’d have taken before kick off and our unbeaten run in London continues.

Hornicek was a liability on Monday night according to yours truly but he was probably our MOTM today!

Good to see Sean Steur and Gonzalez both start and Miley and Fernandez-Pardo getting a run out.

We still aren’t converting chances that we create and we aren’t creating that many chances.’
