As a lot of you guys told me in the comments section when I had my first ever article published on The Mag, it was ‘too early’ to rate the summer 2026 Newcastle United signings, I’ll come back to that in December.
For now, I will work with a comment from Lew, who asked me to give some information about myself.
So here I am, Viktor Dufoort, a 16-year-old boy who lives in Belgium, far from Newcastle. I play football for a club named Dosko Beveren and watch football almost every day.
How I became a Newcastle United fan…
A few years ago, there was a guy whose name I can’t now remember/find, but he made songs on TikTok using only the name of football players (if anyone knows his name you can comment, it would be helpful). And in one of those songs Allan Saint-Maximin featured. That is when I started to recognise Newcastle United as ‘that team Saint-Maximin plays for.’
Later on, towards the end of the 2022/23 season, a friend of mine came up to me and asked: ‘Which club do you support in the Premier League?’ and I said Newcastle United.
My favourite player Allan Saint-Maximin quickly moved away and his replacement on the left Anthony Gordon took over the role of my favourite player.
I really started watching Newcastle United regularly at the end of 2023/24 when I realised I could do so via a subscription we had on a Television site that streams football.
Last season, I also went to Newcastle for the first time to watch the game against Brentford (quick reminder, it didn’t end well). Despite the poor result, I really enjoyed it, experiencing the atmosphere at St. James’ Park for the first time. Likely this season hopefully, a return to Newcastle.
Now I try to watch every Newcastle United game if possible, which isn’t always possible due to the fact that I also have to play a football match each weekend.
Why I am writing articles…
When I was five/six years old, I always played football outside in my garden. I played a match between two teams and I also commentated on that, like a real commentator would do.
Since then, I have always believed that this would be my dream job, getting paid to watch football and commentate on it.
Now, 10 years later am I trying to reach that goal of eventually becoming a journalist and for me a first big step was getting articles published somewhere and here I saw that with The Mag this was a possibility. So I took that chance with both hands, as I am now trying to make a name for myself.
I hope you guys appreciate the effort I make to really get myself to the next level in order to achieve a dream job of mine. By supporting each other, we can get a lot further.
It is not going to be the last time you will see my name pop up with an article on The Mag. But hopefully in a few years you will say, there’s that 16 year old who wrote articles for The Mag and now he is standing inside St. James’ Park commentating.
Lew, I hope you’re happy with the info I gave of myself, hopefully this is the start of a bright future personally for me and of course Newcastle United.
