The club have now revealed the success rates for Newcastle United fans getting home tickets during the 2025/26 season.
Newcastle United stating: ‘As part of our commitment to supporters within our annual Fan Engagement Plan, we are pleased to share an update on how match tickets were allocated and used throughout the 2025/26 season. This demonstrates how we keep access to tickets fair and consistent for all supporters and the action we take to protect supporters from ticket touting and unauthorised resale.’
Across the 2025/26 season Newcastle United played a total of 58 matches in all competitions.
The split was 31 at home and 27 away.
When it came to the 31 home matches last season, the club detailing the success (or otherwise) of Newcastle United members managing to get tickets.
The Newcastle United official ticketing report giving these details and statistics:
The club stating: ‘Home fixture demand reach record levels, with more than 1.27 million ballot applications submitted across the season.’
The club stating: ‘The split‑sales strategy continued to deliver strong accessibility, ensuring 99% of members applying for 10 or more ballots – and 96% of those applying for 5 or more – successfully secured a ticket.’ (NB: I think what the club are saying here isn’t that 96% who entered 5+ ballots (and 99% applying for 10+ ballots) had at least one success in a ballot, instead I think it means that these fans got at least one success via entering 5+or 10+ ballots AND/OR the separate queue sales for members)
The club stating: ‘Season Ticket Holders also played a proactive role in maximising attendance at St. James’ Park, using official channels to forward tickets when unable to attend. This included an average of 1,125 tickets redistributed through the official resale platform, which shows an 80% increase from the 24/25 season.’
11% of Newcastle United members didn’t enter a single ballot across the 2025/26 season.
An average of 4,192 season ticket holders offically forwarded their tickets each match to other fans (who have to be Newcastle United members)
An average of 2,785 tickets were unscanned each home match.
The lowest success rate for any home match was the derby against Sunderland. Of those NUFC members who entered the ballot, only 14% of them got a ticket via that ballot or the member ticket sale that followed.
Other low success rates were Barcelona 19%, Benfica 19%, Man City (EPL) 18%.
The highest success rate for home matches when it came to those NUFC members who entered the ballot and got a ticket via that ballot or the member ticket sale that followed – Fulham (Carabao Cup) 39%, Bradford 32%, Bournemouth (FA Cup) 36%, Qarabag 33%,
As always though, there is one question though that remains unanswered. Why aren’t the club willing to say how many memberships they have sold for any particular season?
