Then Barcelona v Newcastle United one of the four on Wednesday.
Hansi Flick speaking at his pre Newcastle United press conference on Tuesday.
Hansi Flick: “This is football. A lot can happen, and things can change tomorrow, but we have to be positive. There’s a lot of quality in the [Barcelona] squad and I think we are capable of winning this Champions League, though we need to improve. Right now, the important thing is that everyone is available and at their best. Thatis the most important thing heading into the next month.”
The Barcelona boss asked about Newcastle United’s strengths: “They are a physical team that goes man-to-man and they are dangerous in transition. We need to play a perfect game and we’ll try to do that.”
Hansi Flick asked about overcoming Newcastle United’s press: “We have talked about that. We need to do better. We have to play with conviction. It’s important for tomorrow when they start marking us man-to-man. Finding the open space.”
Lewis Hall dominated Lamine Yamal in the first leg at St James’ Park.
The United defender playing so well at the back and going forward, indeed, only a shocking refusal by the referee to book Yamal for a really poor foul on Lewis Hall, has allowed the Barcelona star man to play in this second leg. It would have been a third yellow card in the competition this season and a one match suspension.
Hansi Flick on Lamine Yamal: “He is the player who can make the difference. He trained fantastically yesterday and today too. So did the team. The Champions League is one of the best competitions, everyone wants to play there, and it’s extra motivation for the players.”
