I have been having a look ahead to the 25 man Newcastle United Premier League squad for the 2026/27 season.
At the end of this summer 2026 transfer window, all 20 Premier League clubs have to name a senior 25 man squad for the league campaign.
These then will be the only senior Newcastle United players allowed to play in the Premier League in the first half of the 2026/27 season.
Changes can be made to this 25 man Premier League squad once we get to January 2027 transfer window.
As a bonus, you have those who count extra as Under 21s. For the 2026/27 campaign, a Premier League Under 21 player is anyone born on or after January 1, 2005.
For the first half of the 2025/26 season this was the senior 25 man Newcastle United Premier League squad confirmed on 12 September 2025 (those in bold are the ones who definitely won’t be playing for NUFC in the 2026/27 season):

As you can see, with Nick Pope set to leave imminently, the ten in bold are no longer going to be with Newcastle United.
So this means only 15 of the 25 above will still be part of the 25 man Newcastle United Premier League senior squad for the 2026/27 season.
Lewis Hall was counted as an Under 21 player last season but no longer will be for the 2026/27 season, so that takes us up to 16 of 25 senior players for the 2026/27 Premier League squad. Like Hall, Alex Murphy was counted as U21 last season but would have become part of the senior NUFC squad this season. However, he has now gone to Kaiserslautern on loan for the season. Ashby and Vlachodimos has both gone out on loan as well, Luton and Sevilla respectively.
Lukas Hornicek is 24 and so he takes us up to filling 17 of the 25 senior squad places.
Steur is 18, whilst Bamba, Toure and Jaouen are all 20, so they rank as Under 21s and not taking up places in the 25 man senior Premier League squad. Lewis Miley leads the existing list of Under 21 players and we now see what par, if any, the likes of Sean Neave, Trevan Sanusi, Leo Shahar, Aidan Harris, Seung-soo Park and others will play this coming season, or will they go out on loan?
Like Nick Pope, Joe Willock looks all but certain to go, with Besiktas wanting to sign him according to reports. that would leave us with just 16 spaces filled of the 25 and nine vacancies!
When you factor in that Mark Gillespie is going to be third choice keeper (and helping on the coaching side) and set not to be part of the matchday squads, that leaves us with a VERY young looking squad as we approach a huge season. Claims of Newcastle United looking to sign an experienced midfielder in his 30s on a £15m or less transfer fee but nothing has happened as yet.
One thing for sure though. No need to worry about not having space for new signings this summer, whatever age they are. Plenty room in the 25 man NUFC Premier League squad as things currently stand with now less than three weeks until the transfer window closes.
