It has now been revealed when the England squad for the 2026 World Cup finals will be announced.
Thomas Tuchel set to select 26 players.
The tournament will feature 48 teams and these 2026 World Cup finals last almost six weeks in total, from Thursday 11 June to the final on Sunday 19 July.
The FA today (Friday 8 May) making public that: “The England men’s senior squad for the FIFA 2026 World Cup will be named on Friday 22 May…Head coach Thomas Tuchel will name a 26-player squad for the competition in Canada, Mexico and USA, which takes place between 11 June and 19 July.”
A number of Newcastle United players awaiting news of that England squad reveal in exactly two weeks time.
With varying degrees of hope and expectation, the likes of Dan Burn, Nick Pope, Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento, Anthony Gordon, Aaron Ramsdale and Lewis Hall.
The official England squad date reveal from The FA going on to say: “In early June, the squad will head to Florida for a pre-World Cup training camp which will also see them play two games against New Zealand (9pm BST, Saturday 6 June) and Costa Rica (9pm BST, Wednesday 10 June) with tickets for those matches now on sale.”
England to kick off their competitive matches in exactly 40 days time.
The official release stating: “England will then begin their World Cup campaign a week later when they meet Croatia in their group stage opener in Dallas on Wednesday 17 June (9pm BST), before facing Ghana in Boston on Tuesday 23 June (9pm BST) and then finishing the group stage games against Panama in New Jersey on Saturday 27 June (10pm BST).”
