Newcastle United have signed Ewen Jaouen.
An official announcement on Wednesday revealing the news.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper signed from Stade de Reims.
The goalkeeper capture hopefully kicking off a busy summer on the incoming Newcastle United front, with the likes of Anthony Gordon, Kieran Trippier, Matt Targett, Emil Krafth, John Ruddy and Aaron Ramsdale having all been confirmed as departures.
As usual, an undisclosed transfer fee.
However, previous media reports on both sides of the channel had suggested a deal of around £24m, with around £18m or so guaranteed, plus potential future add-ons giving a total of £24m+.
The much sought after young goalkeeper had a number of clubs actively trying to buy him.
Even though still only 20, Ewen Jaouen has already made 60 appearances for Stade de Reims, plus another 20 across loan spells at Rodez and Dunkerque.
Canal+ also reported last week that Ewen Jaouen had agreed a four-year contract but Newcastle United referring to it simply as a ‘long-term contract’ that has been signed.
The official Newcastle United announcement: ‘Newcastle United has completed the signing of highly-sought after goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Stade de Reims on a long-term contract. The much coveted 20-year-old made 34 Ligue 2 appearances last season, keeping 15 clean sheets, and has represented France at Under-21 level.’
The club going on to say: ‘Jaouen joined Reims in the summer of 2023 after beginning his professional career with Guingamp. He spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Rodez, before moving to USL Dunkerque for the 2024/25 season where he was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the Coupe de France, losing to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.’
