On Wednesday it was revealed that Newcastle United had reached agreement with Hoffenheim for the signing of Bazoumana Toure.
United winning the race to sign the exciting 20-year-old winger ahead of a host of other clubs.
Widely reported that the Toure agreement is for a total of €50m (approx £42.7m).
This made up of a guaranteed €48m (approx £41.0m) transfer fee plus “easily achievable” €2m (approx £1.7m) more in future bonus payments.
Hoffenheim also stated to have secured a contract clause that will given them 10% of any profit if Newcastle United go on to sell him in the future.
The elimination of Ivory Coast from the World Cup on Tuesday had simplified matters in terms of the imminent signing.
That loss in Dallas for the Ivory Coast then allowing the finalising of the transfer to be accelerated and German media reporting that Bazoumana Toure was set to fly direct from the USA to Tyneside to take his medical and then for the final details to be signed off and the signing officially announced.
Journalist Malick Traore has now shared an image of Bazoumana Toure and his representatives on a private jet en route to Newcastle.
The Ivorian journalist stating via his person Twitter/X account: “Bazoumana Toure en route for his medical examination. With a transfer estimated at 50 million euros, he is set to become the second most expensive Ivorian player in history behind the 80 million spent on Nicolas Pepe in 2019 for his transfer to Arsenal.”
Here’s hoping Toure has more success at Newcastle United than Pepe did at Arsenal, where he had a nightmare time after his £72m move to the Premier League. Pepe ended up getting a free transfer in summer 2023 despite having a year of his Arsenal deal remaining. After doing okay for a year at Trabzonspor in Turkey, the former Arsenal player has done well for Villarreal these past two seasons.
