I have been having a look at the 25 man Newcastle United Premier League squad for the 2026/27 season.
Now we have reached the end of this summer 2026 transfer window, all 20 Premier League clubs have to now name an official senior 25 man squad for the league campaign.
These then will be the only senior Newcastle United players allowed to play in the Premier League in the first half of the 2026/27 season.
Changes can be made to this 25 man Premier League squad once we get to January 2027 transfer window.
As a bonus, you have those who count extra as Under 21s. For the 2026/27 campaign, a Premier League Under 21 player is classified as anyone born on or after January 1, 2005.
For the first half of the 2025/26 season this was the senior 25 man Newcastle United Premier League squad confirmed on 12 September 2025 (those in bold are the ones who definitely won’t be playing for NUFC in the 2026/27 season):

So this means only 15 of the 25 above will still be part of the 25 man Newcastle United Premier League senior squad for the 2026/27 season. That could drop to 14 if Nick Pope belatedly gets a move to a club in a league where the transfer window still hasn’t closed.
Lewis Hall was counted as an Under 21 player last season but no longer will be for the 2026/27 season, so that takes us up to 16 of 25 senior players for the 2026/27 Premier League squad.
Amar Dedic, Nico Gonzalez and Lukas Hornicek are all 24, so this trio takes us up to filling 19 of the 25 senior squad places.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo was born February 2005 and so still qualifies as Under 21. Steur is 18, whilst Bamba, Toure and Jaouen are all 20, so they rank as Under 21s and not taking up places in the 25 man senior Premier League squad.
Lewis Miley leads the existing list of Under 21 players and we now see what part, if any, the likes of Trevan Sanusi, Leo Shahar, Aidan Harris and Seung-soo Park and others will play this coming season, or will one or more of them go out on loan to a club in a league where the summer window hasn’t closed yet?
One thing for sure though. No need to worry about having space for new signings moving forward in January 2027 or whenever, whatever age they are. Plenty room in the 25 man NUFC Premier League squad with six vacancies (seven if Nick Pope leaves this month).
Regardless of what happens with the England international keeper, Newcastle United will only have a maximum of 16 outfield players in the first half of this 2026/27 Premier League season who are counted as senior players (not Under 21s). This fact probably reinforces further why Matthias Jaissle wanted the club to turn down the late bids that came in for Jacob Murphy and Joe Willock, two of the older and more experienced individuals in the Newcastle United squad.
