The Tottenham result at Aston Villa has really lit up the Premier League relegation picture, just as well Newcastle United got that win v Brighton.
An action packed Premier League weekend already and still matches to come on Monday.
Friday saw Leeds 3 Burnley 1.
Saturday the Premier League results were Brentford 3 West Ham 0, Newcastle 3 Brighton 1, Wolves 1 Sunderland 1, Arsenal 3 Fulham 0.
On Sunday we saw, Bournemouth 3 Palace 0, Man U 3 Liverpool 2, Villa 1 Tottenham 2.
Today (Monday) it is Chelsea v Forest at 3pm, Everton v Man City at 8pm.
This is now the Premier League table on the morning of 4 May 2026
I know West Ham lost on Saturday BUT imagine the hysteria there would still have been from some if Newcastle United had lost to Brighton!!
If Newcastle had lost on Saturday and say Forest win today at Chelsea, that would have put United fifth bottom on 42 points with three games left to play.
West Ham would have been six points behind Newcastle and Tottenham five points behind NUFC.
However, with Tottenham having now won two in a row (how woeful and such lack of effort were Villa last night???) and West Ham set to play at St James’ Park in their second last match of the season, the drama queens would have been loving it in The Mag comment section!!!
Thankfully, Newcastle United now on 45 points and only the really extreme NUFC drama queens still dreaming of impending disaster.
In the real relegation fight, it is now to three clubs for 18th and the final place for the drop:
39 points Forest having played 34 (They still have Chelsea away, Newcastle home, Man U away, Bournemouth home)
37 points Tottenham having played 35 (Leeds home, Chelsea away, Everton home)
36 points West Ham having played 35 (Arsenal home, Newcastle away, Leeds home)
I suppose you could say Leeds and Palace could potentially get dragged into it but I can’t see West Ham winning all three of their matches and Palace/Leeds getting nothing.
