It has now been reported that Manchester City could be set to buy both Elliot Anderon and Sandro Tonali.

The Athletic report that with their midfield set to lose a number of players this this summer, more than one incoming major signing could be needed in that midfield area.

Bernardo Silva has moved to Real Madrid, while Nico Gonzalez and Tijjani Reijnders are also expected to leave as well.

Manchester City could also potentially see Rodri leave as well, his contract ends in 12 months time and he has shown no interest in signing the new extended deal he has been offered.

Daniel Taylor at The Athletic saying his information is that: ‘Manchester City are giving genuine consideration to signing Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, as well as Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest….Manchester City have continued to track the player….City’s interest in Tonali, 26, does not affect their plans to sign Anderson and they remain in talks with Nottingham Forest about a potential British record transfer. Signing both midfielders, for what would likely be a combined cost of over £200million ($268m), comes with City seeking to build a side for Enzo Maresca, Pep Guardiola’s successor, that can challenge for next season’s Premier League title.’

Tuesday saw The Athletic and other credible media report Tottenham’s interest in trying to buy Sandro Tonali, though very unlikely the Newcastle United star would consider going to Spurs as it would be seen as a step backwards, even if they found the money to afford a £100m+ transfer fee plus wages.

With Manchester City still not having any conclusion to the Premier League 115 charges case and any potential punishment, they certainly have no worries in terms of financial flex to buy both Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson.

Arsenal are also reported to be interested in trying to sign Sandro Tonali.

If Newcastle United are indeed prepared to sell Sandro Tonali if enough money is offered, which appears to be be the case, then having interest from multiple clubs will surely ensure he will bank United £100m+ considering how much Anderson is set to go for and what the likes of Rice, Fernandez and Caicedo went for previously.
