Arsenal fans have been reacting after claims that Bruno Guimaraes could be moving to the Emirates.

This purely coming from media claims that the Newcastle United captain allegedly is set to join the Gunners.

Bruno Guimaraes of course is still out at the World Cup finals and starring for Brazil, who will play Norway for a place in the quarter-finals.

Some ‘interesting’ comments from Arsenal fans below.

The odd voice of reason but…

The arrogance flows from the vast majority not only thinking there is no doubt Bruno Guimaraes would be desperate to sign for them but that they can also get him for half of the price of an Elliot Anderson, for £40m less than Tottenham are paying for Sandro Tonali.

Arsenal fans commenting via their Arsenal Mania message board:

‘Gordon gone, Tonali gone and they think Bruno Guimaraes will stay at a midtable club when this could be his last chance at joining an elite side?’

‘Newcastle has shown many times they can be bullied. Bruno is older as well, they definitely have to sell. No point having an unhappy player in the team. They are better off taking all the cash and rebuilding a young team, prepare for CL challenge few years later since they are not going to get it anyway and has no europe.

Said it previously but Newcastle’s saudi project was always weird from the start. Compared to who Citeh signed under Sven from the beginning, they kept signing all the PL proven players that are super overpriced that doesn’t raise ceilings but keep raising floor bit by bit then go into FFP trouble and have to sell their youth players who were better than their first teamers.

Would be kinda embarrassing for us to make Bruno our number 1 choice over Tonali but miss out on him while letting Spuds get Tonali so I am confident we have done the groundwork to do so.’

‘It can’t have been anyone serious in Saudi that wanted the takeover. If it was they’d pump the sponsorships and money through the back door.

This Newcastle take over reeks over some 11yo nephew wanting his infinately rich uncle to buy Newcastle for his birthday present and let him play football manager with it. Now a few years on he’s discovered girls and got bored of it.’

‘They actually did spend a lot of money, but all on PL proven players. Absolute waste IMO. Had they gone down the route of continental players that have high ceilings they would have been right up there now and Saudi would have continue pumping money.’

‘If Newcastle wind up getting £160m+ from the Tonali and Gordon sales this summer I don’t see why they wouldn’t just hold onto Bruno for another year. They’d of course have to accept a cheaper fee next summer but it seems relatively worth it to keep your captain and most important player for another year having already sold two key players. If this happens it’s because Bruno forces it or Newcastle’s finances are f…ed far beyond what we know.’

‘Feel like Bruno deserve some respect from Newcastle. Gave them his best years and he might be running out of chances to join more serious club at age of 29.’

Signing Bruno makes tons of sense for this team in current state.’

‘If the player really wants out normaly the player gets out. It’s actually that easy. I can only think about MGW who changed his mind. (My mind not think hard)

So if he wants to force a move Newcastle will sell in the end. If he’s not forcing a move, I guess he stays.’

‘People still dont really get it you think Newcastle wanted tonali or Gordon to go? Of course not they didn’t want to lose them its doesn’t matter if they received 300M from Tonali Isak and Gordon if Bruno told them tomorrow he want leave they cant do anything about it’

‘Do people just assume Bruno will push for a move?

Because everything we’ve heard about him in the past he’s super loyal and basically a cult hero at Newcastle. He is the team. Why are we taking for granted they need to sell him if we come knocking?’

‘I don’t see him doing an Isak but i wouldn’t be surprised if he tells them he wants the move if they can agree a fee over him signing a new deal.

TBH I can’t see this happening now Tonali has gone.’

‘It’s been clear Tonali would leave this summer for a long time, and it hasn’t stopped Arsenal talking to Bruno and his representatives, so I wouldn’t say the deal is suddenly off the cards.

It will make the signing more difficult for us though, with Newcastle digging their heels in publicly to lessen the blow for their fans.’

‘All Newcastle sources seem to indicate he wants to leave and Newcastle will struggle to keep ahold of him.

Also sounds like £65M is a number they keep floating around too.’

‘Of all the players we have been linked with he is probably the one Arteta wants the most and he usually gets what he wants.’

‘Surely Tonali going means this can’t happen, Newcastle can’t lose their best 3 players in 2 summers… would make them pointless lol.

Would probably prefer someone else anyway.’

‘Absolutely embarrassing if they lose all 3 to other Prem teams too, just hand over your Saudi money to Leeds as you clearly suck.’

‘If we wanted Bruno we should have done this before Tonali. Our first bid made Spurs hurry up and get their man.’

‘Bruno in the world cup, Tonali not.

Of course Tonali is likely to move first, particularly since longer term rumours of him leaving, add to that Sp**s have spent top dollar.

The only criticism that could be labelled at us is not signing Tonali himself.

Had we been desperate for him, and promised him first team football we could have persuaded him to join us over Sp**s. We clearly were not overly interested in him.

Again however, to get him by now we would have had to overspend too, on a player who is good but not on the level of Bruno.’

‘The Newcastle project is clearly over. If Bruno wants to achieve anything in his club career the time to move is now, it’s not reasonable for them to think the captain should stay with that shinking ship when he isn’t a geordie. Hopefully he will kinda force a move to make it possible.

Casemiro was a similar signing for utd I think 4 years ago? That was 60 million. A bit above that would be reasonable considering inflation and whatnot.’

‘Will they really sell both tonali and Bruno in the same window?’

‘He is coming,

Gordon and Tonali gone, last year Isak.

They have blown Isak money on 2 very average strikers …

They are in a downfall and £60m will do it …’

‘If we bid it gets done. Tbf we need him cos Rice is gassed.’

‘Can’t expect them to replace their CM in one summer.’

‘They did it last year with their strikers. Him being captain is what makes it awkward for them. Ordinarily if a player wants out it happens one way or another, but the optics dont look good for them selling their captain after selling Gordon and Tonali. For the player though, he’s 28 and seen them sell off 3 of their best players in the last year. If he stays he’s basically giving them the final years of his career in what is essentially a complete rebuild. I think he will agitate for a move as much as he can, especially if it is to the champions.’

‘I think the jordies would burn St James down if they sell Bruno G at this point.’

‘Do they want lose bruno for free or get 70M from him? Thier project as we know it is dead they need to start new one also why Bruno should stay loyal?’

‘Has 2 years left on his deal, they probably have to sell if they can’t get him to extend.’

‘3. Newcastle have a year option they can trigger.’

‘He’d transform our team to a whole new level, the transition from defence to attack would improve immediately, if you throw a Roger’s in there also, I could see us blowing teams away 3-0-4-0 most weeks.

Bruno G would be the signing of the summer.’

‘We will sign Guimaraes i don’t think the price will go above 70M.’

‘I like Newcastle (before the takeover) but he’s already matched what he could do there now really…you have a chance of winning the 4 “minor trophies” (Europa League, FA Cup, Conference League, Carabao Cup) that exist now…and he’s already one one of them with Newcastle.

He wants to try and win the Premier League and Champions League, which he could win with us but cannot win with them.

That simple… unless he wants to just be a loyal Newcastle legend, he will push for this move I think.’

‘Can’t see how Newcastle will sell if Tonali leaves. I genuinely don’t think Bruno G will force his way out either.. think if Tonali goes then that low chance to sign Bruno is basically zero.’
