There has been an Anthony Gordon ‘Exclusive’ on Thursday morning.
Though I have to admit that I fail to see what exactly is ‘Exclusive’ about it…
The ‘Exclusive’ is from The Telegraph and is basically claiming that Anthony Gordon wants to leave at the end of the season.
What Luke Edwards says/claims in this piece is: ‘Anthony Gordon is keen to explore his options to leave Newcastle United in the summer as he looks to follow Alexander Isak out of the club. Newcastle have not been told by Gordon that he wants to leave, but the feeling inside St James’ Park is that the winger will seek a move in the summer and the club are aware of potential interest from England and Europe. As a result, the Newcastle hierarchy is braced for bids to come early in the summer as the player is keen to get his future sorted before the World Cup.’
Luke Edwards gets a lot of stick from Newcastle United fans, much of it unfair, but this looks a poor effort and just feels like a cheap shot.
The ‘Exclusive’ even admits that Anthony Gordon has said absolutely nothing to anybody about wanting to leave.
The man from The Telegraph going on to say: ‘There has been no falling out behind the scenes and Gordon started on the wing in Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend. He continues to train well and his professionalism has not been questioned. But it seems the player, who arrived from Everton in January 2023 for £45m, feels he has outgrown Newcastle and would like a new challenge as well as a large pay rise at a club competing regularly in the Champions League.’
This ‘Exclusive’ feels like something to just stir things up, a cheap shot at Anthony Gordon to get attention.
An article seemingly based on nothing more than a ‘feeling’, a guess of what Anthony Gordon may or may not want to do.
Like anything in football, we can never be really surprised by anything that happens.
When Lee Clark signed for Sunderland all bets were off. Nothing would ever be impossible in the future.
Anthony Gordon might be desperate to move in the summer.
Newcastle United might be desperate to sell Anthony Gordon in the summer if a ridiculously high offer comes in for him.
All I see at the moment is nothing ‘Exclusive’, simply endless speculation and guesswork of what might, or might not happen. That is my ‘Exclusive’….
