Liam Rosenior watched on as he was schooled by Eddie Howe on Saturday.
Newcastle United deservedly taking all three points.
Chelsea following up their hammering by PSG in midweek, with a 1-0 home loss to Newcastle United.
United taking the lead on 18 minutes through Anthony Gordon and Chelsea rarely threatening.
Indeed, the referee and VAR denied Newcastle United a clear penalty that could have seen Newcastle double their lead. Reece James clearly dragging Malick Thiaw to the ground as a a corner came in.
However, the shameless Liam Rosenior somehow blaming the match officials for the defeat!
Cole Palmer diving to the ground when he initiated contact with Nick Woltemade and the on the pitch referee Paul Tierney rightly giving a goal-kick.
Liam Rosenior laughably claiming he and his team were badly done to as VAR dismissed it: “I don’t understand how it’s not overturned.”
Even more embarrassing, this woeful disrespectful thing where Liam Rosenior and his players try to wind up the opposition by taking over the centre circle to do their pre-match huddle.
Beyond belief today as referee Paul Tierney stood where the centre spot is and yet the Chelsea players still insisted on forming a circle around him before kick-off.
Yet incredibly, Liam Rosenior having the nerve to claim that he and his players aren’t being disrespectful AND that Paul Tierney was the one at fault today for ending up in this shameless Chelsea centre circle group huddle.
Liam Rosenior asked about Paul Tierney ending up in the middle of the Chelsea group huddle..: “I am disappointed. I am respectful to the game. My players made the decision that they wanted to be around the ball…to respect the ball and show unity and leadership. That is not my decision. That was a decision between the leadership group and the team. There is nothing that they are doing with that huddle that is disrespectful to the opposition. If Paul had focused more on his job, which was to make the right decision, we have a penalty today. I don’t think anybody in this room can say that Woltemade doesn’t kick Cole Palmer down in the box. So, let’s focus on the things that are important. My team showing unity is not as important as getting the decisions right on the pitch.”
Chelsea only managed three efforts on target all match, Aaron Ramsdale barely a serious save to make.
United’s defending excellent whilst also carrying a threat on the break, Chelsea struggling to create anything of note.
No surprise that Liam Rosenior saw something different…“We had control, we had domination, we created chances and moments…The disappointing thing today for me is we haven’t kept a clean sheet when Newcastle, if they are being honest, didn’t really create much.”
Newcastle United are the Premier League club to have suffered most with injuries this season.
Chelsea with a far stronger squad in terms of depth and today they had midfield and attacking options of Delap, Pedro, Palmer, Garnacho, Fernandez, Caicedo, Santos, Lavia…yet Liam Rosenior having the audacity to blame injuries for their feeble efforts in the attacking half: “Yes, it is difficult at the moment with the injuries, especially in attacking areas.”
The same as his players with their embarrassing pre-match huddle around the referee, Liam Rosenior showing a total lack of class.
Sour grapes from the Chelsea manager, as after the match, instead of giving Newcastle United credit for their deserved victory, he declared: “They had nothing in the game and we gave them a goal.”
It makes it all the sweeter when characters like Rosenior act like that after the match.
What a woeful club Chelsea are, both on and off the pitch.
