Eight teenagers join Newcastle United full-time after leaving school

An official announcement from Newcastle United has revealed that eight teenagers will join the club ‘on a full-time basis after leaving school in the summer.’

An official club release on Wednesday making public the news.

The official NUFC statement beginning: ‘Newcastle United can confirm that eight teenagers have signed scholarships at the club’s Little Benton Academy ahead of the 2026/27 season. The young players will join the Magpies on a full-time basis after leaving school in the summer.’

The club going on to add: ‘Chukwudi Afumuzor, Theo Benjamin, Roman Dowell, Jayden Kouossu, George Mair, Leon Mukumbira, Alfie Seldon and Lesecond Yeutembip have all been offered scholarships at the Magpies’ youth set-up and will link up with Chris Moore’s Under-18 squad for the new campaign.’

Steve Harper is Academy Director and he has said: “Congratulations to each of the young players joining us as scholars this season. Stepping into a full-time football environment is a major milestone and our programme is built to guide them through every part of that transition, developing their football, supporting their education and helping them grow as people. We’re excited to work with them and to see how they progress as they begin this next chapter at the Academy.”
