As no doubt most of you will be aware, every match at St James’ Park sees Newcastle United Fans Foodbank collecting donations from supporters going to the match.
These donations are to support Newcastle Foodbank.
A charity that helps to support and feed local people who are struggling to cope.
Ahead of every game at St James’ Park, the Newcastle United fans foodbank volunteers collect donations opposite the Gallowgate end.
Gratefully receiving food and toiletries for those in need. Of particular interest are non-perishable food and drink items (such as noodles, pasta, rice, canned food, soup, cereal, cordial, long life milk etc) as well as toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, toothpaste and sanitary products.
Just as importantly of course, buckets are rattled to invite Newcastle United fans to donate cash, which Newcastle Foodbank then use to buy the bulk of the food etc that they supply those in need with.
The final home match of the season was last Sunday against West Ham, with Newcastle United Fans Foodbank revealing that supporters deposited £3,126.86 into the collecting buckets.
The Reuben family who are the 15% minority shareholders at Newcastle United double whatever amount of cash is collected before each game, so that meant last Sunday a total of £6,253.72 was raised for Newcastle Foodbank.
Newcastle United Fans Foodbank have now also revealed the full total for the season, with an astonishing £73,824.01 donated by NUFC supporters before matches in 2025/26.
With the Reuben family doubling that amount, it gives a grand total of £147,648.02 for this season.
A big well done to the fans who volunteer and of course to all the supporters who donate.
The Newcastle Foodbank facility is currently used by up to 1,200 people per week.
Sadly, the numbers only head one way in terms of those needing help and so the need for donations needs to do the same.
Obviously no matches at St James’ Park for a fair while, so please consider donating directly online, go to Newcastle Foodbank to make a donation and/or to get more information on how to help and find out exactly what Newcastle Foodbank do to help local people in need.
