Newcastle United have held positive talks as they attempt to buy Victor Munoz.
Sky Sports report that talks are continuing BUT contrary to claims elsewhere, there has been no official bid put in yet. Craig Hope at The Mail also backs this up, saying positive talks taking place on Victor Munoz (pictured above playing for Spain) but as yet no NUFC official bid.
Keith Downie who covers Newcastle United for Sky Sports, says that Osasuna sacking their manager and appointing a new one hasn’t helped matters.
Osasuna won only two of their final league matches and that saw them only survive in La Liga on goal difference. The club sacking Alessio Lisci after that near disaster.
Osasuna only announced Luis Miguel Ramis as the new manager yesterday (Wednesday 10 June 2026) and clearly that won’t have helped as Newcastle United look to progress a deal with the La Liga club.
Victor Munoz was one of the few positives for Osasuna last season, having signed from Real Madrid on 11 July 2025 at the age of 20. He turned 21 two days later and despite his new club’s troubles across the 2025/26 season, the rapid winger proved a big hit and scored six league goals as well as getting two assists.
Such was his form, Victor Munoz forced his way into the Spain squad and made a goalscoring debut in March 2026 as they defeated Serbia 3-0.
Now with two international appearances, Victor Munoz is in the Spanish World Cup squad and now over in Tennessee as they prepare for their group games. Spain playing Cape Verde on Monday (15 June) in their opening group match.
Sky Sports report that their information from Spain is that Osasuna value Victor Munoz at around £35m.
The diminutive 5ft 8 winger will turn 23 ahead of the new season and is the kind of raw relatively inexperienced and unexposed young talent that Newcastle United are said to be targeting this summer.
Interesting to see if Newcastle United now follow up their positive talks with a successful bid and make him their second summer signing, with Ewen Jaouen having completed his move on Wednesday to St James’ Park.
