‘We are heading in the right direction’ Matthias Jaissle Saturday morning message

Matthias Jaissle has put out a new message ahead of Newcastle United facing Bournemouth.

The club putting out the NUFC Head Coach’s pre-match statement of intent.

Only a month into the job and Matthias Jaissle has been so impressive.

Newcastle United having picked up two wins and a draw so far.

Now a huge game against Bournemouth as United look to build on what has been achieved in the opening week of competitive action.

Matthias Jaissle beginning his pre-match message when speaking to official club media with: “We arrive at St. James’ Park today looking to build on a really positive start to the season. I’ve been at the club for just over a month now and the commitment shown by everybody to buy into our approach has been exceptional, on and off the pitch. The support we have all felt has also been fantastic, and it was really pleasing that we were able to celebrate our first Premier League win last weekend with the away fans who made the journey down to London. We know there’s a long season ahead, but it feels like we have started it by showing we are heading in the right direction.”

The NUFC boss then reflecting on last weekend.

Matthias Jaissle saying: “I felt that we fully deserved the three points for our performance at Tottenham. We were patient and disciplined when we needed to be against a dangerous opponent, but we made good decisions with our transitions, we used the ball well and were clinical in attack. We also showed the right mentality – players put their bodies on the line when they needed to and we showed real togetherness when we found ourselves under pressure.”

Early days but really positive signs.

That winning feeling is something we should never take for granted and it was important we enjoyed that moment in front our supporters, who we appreciate make a lot of sacrifices and spend a lot of money to follow us away from home.”

Thoughts then turning to today.

Matthias Jaissle: “Today’s game against Bournemouth will provide us with another good test. They’ve also experienced a summer of change but have a top coach in Marco Rose, who I know well from his time in Austria and Germany. However, it’s important that we focus on our own game and continue to show the qualities that have helped us achieve results in these opening weeks. We’ve had a good week of work on the training pitch in preparation for today and it was great to welcome Matias Fernandez-Pardo to the club on Tuesday. He’s a really exciting addition to the squad and somebody who I’m sure our supporters will enjoy watching. He’s technically gifted, brave on the ball and capable of scoring and creating important goals. He’s another young, hungry player with a lot of potential, and we’re all really looking forward to working with him and helping him develop further here. Thank you again for the support and incredibly warm welcome that me, my staff and all of our new signings have received since arriving at the club this summer. You have quickly made us all feel at home and part of the family within the club and in the city. We hope to repay you again this afternoon. Howay the lads!”
