Tuesday has brought confirmation that Matias Fernandez-Pardo has transferred from LOSC Lille to Newcastle United.
Newcastle United announcing it as the usual ‘undisclosed transfer fee’ but media reports had claimed before the completion of the move, that a guaranteed transfer fee of just over £51m would be paid by United. Then a number of possible future add-ons that could take the total deal up to around £55m.
The 21-year-old Belgium international reported to have agreed a five-year contract with Newcastle United.
Now LOSC Lille have released an official statement after the player’s move.
The Ligue 1 club’s official release beginning: ‘LOSC Lille have confirmed the transfer of Matias Fernandez-Pardo to Newcastle United FC. The 21-year-old Belgian international striker has signed with the Premier League club. Having come through the youth ranks at LOSC Lille before continuing his development at Gent, Matias returned to the club in the summer of 2024. In two seasons with Les Dogues, the striker played 71 matches and scored 12 goals in all competitions. He also made his Champions League debut and Europa League debut. It was also during his two years in Lille that Matias became a Belgian international, having participated in the 2026 World Cup with the Red Devils.’
LOSC Lille adding: ‘Thanks to his performances in a Lille shirt over the last two seasons, Matias and his teammates contributed to Les Dogues’ qualification for the Europa League in 2025 and then the Champions League in 2026. LOSC wishes Matias Fernandez-Pardo the best of luck in the Premier League with his new club.’
