It is over a decade since Hull fans visited St James’ Park.

Newcastle United set to host Hull City on Saturday with a 3pm kick-off.

It will actually be almost 12 years to the day when Hull fans last visited Tyneside. Papiss Cisse scored twice for United in a 2-2 draw against the Tigers on 20 September 2014.

Hull Fans commenting via their Not 606 Hull City message board:

‘Newcastle have a ton of players out and we simply must take advantage of that. Eager to see how we approach this one from the off.’

‘I was hoping that Newcastle would stumble into this full of confidence, blindly thinking they’d batter us without breaking sweat – as per previous years.

Seems unlikely given their thrashing at Leeds, injury problems and our well-documented form.’

‘2-0 city … Oli to get off the mark, bet he is an angry man after the two he should have put away recently.’

‘St James’ Park a bad hunting ground for us over years. They’ve made a better start than I thought they would but so have we. No reason why we can’t keep the run going there.’

‘I didn’t realise Gaby Logan was a Toon fan, I thought she would have been Leeds.’

‘It’s good for us that Newcastle have some key injuries, but ….. “down to the bare bones”, “patched up fragile concoction” …. They have no idea.

Bit like when the plastics of Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal etc claim they have suffered and stayed with them through all the bad times. Literally, no comprehension.

Wonder if their £35 mill signing Bamba will come in or will stay on the bench? Maybe they’ll start Pope in goal. Or hand Livramento a start.

Or £42 million Toure a start. Or £40 million Ramsey. Or Schar with only his 86 full Swiss caps. Or the very decent Willock.

Even when things are relatively ok for us, by our standards, we’re still without Butland, Mendy, Morita, Matazo, Targett, Ansah, McNair (maybe) … and Sinik.

Give me strength … they have literally no idea.’

‘After what seems like ages since the Chelsea game, I’m sat thinking how disappointed I am that we aren’t on 12 points let alone 8. Chances, chances and chances have to be taken. I don’t want to hear oh well we got a point when some players put us in a position to get 3. Greedy, I dont think so. Lets hope some players have their finishing boots on this weekend.’

‘Chelsea ones annoying but Villa should’ve had us dead and buried so that was a very good point. 9 would be a great return but I have a feel it may be one game too many.’

‘Matt Targett has twisted his ankle in training and is a doubt for Saturday.’

‘My first thought was ‘Handy, that adds to The Mags’ injury list’, then I remembered that we’d signed him. ‘

‘Not ideal if Mendy’s already unavailable and we want to carry on playing with 3 CB’s.’

‘Regardless of Saturdays game it’s still a fantastic start.

We’ve got to be realistic about the quality we are now facing, and despite having apparently signed well and coming up with a plan to suit our strengths, the majority of our players still would not get in the majority of teams in the division.’

‘Newcastle Missing Dan Burn, big time. Now theres a sentence I never thought I’d write.’

‘Just had £20 City at 5/1 on Saturday.’

‘Newcastle really struggled with Leeds being physical. They got bullied basically and I think we’ll watch that and do the same. Be aggressive with them.’

‘Newcastles defence was shocking.’

‘Did they have a defence?’

‘Mauling incoming.’

‘Not a chance Newcastle play that badly twice in a row. We need to be bang on it.’

‘This will be our hardest game so far

Fact.’

‘We go there confident, they will want a reaction after Leeds.’

‘If is still 0-0 with 30 gone then that crowd will be right on them.’

‘I think Newcastle will be smarting from that Leeds game, Wissa is a beast of a striker, he’ll be the difference IMO.’

‘Agree Wissa is a handful. I was willing him to get a knock to keep him out this weekend.

Although they didn’t score, Wissa, Barnes and Willock, when he came on 2nd half, look dangerous.

They’re without Burn and now should also be without their big money signing Gonzales (£50 million!!) as he went off as concussion sub first half.’
