Brentford have announced a new first team assistant coach.
The official club release on Friday morning naming Damien Duff as the new appointment.
The former Newcastle United winger joining Brentford to work under Keith Andrews, his former international teammate.
Damien Duff will be most remembered by United fans for 24 May 2009.
The then Newcastle United winger diverting the ball past Steve Harper to give Aston Villa a 1-0 win and relegate NUFC on the final day of the season.
Brentford announcing on Friday 12 June 2026: ‘Damien Duff has joined Brentford as first-team assistant coach. Duff, who led Shelbourne to the League of Ireland Premier Division title in 2024, will begin work with the Bees later this month.’
Keith Andrews saying: “I have known Damien for a long time. I’ve seen him up close throughout his coaching journey. We’ve been on courses together and worked together as coaches with the Republic of Ireland national team. Damien will bring experience, presence and a real level of detail to our coaching department. He will add to the great group we already have and I’m very pleased that he is joining us.”
