Wednesday brought the news that Ousmane Diabaté was set to sign for Newcastle United.
Turkish media reporting that the young midfielder had agreed to join United despite interest from Fenerbahce, Brentford and Tottenham.
Both Fotospor and journalist Reşat Can Özbudak had reported on Tuesday that talks were taking place.
Then on Wednesday Reşat Can Özbudak revealing that Ousmane Diabaté was travelling to Tyneside for his medical ahead of signing for Newcastle United.
The media in the UK then confirming this exclusive from Turkey, that Ousmane Diabaté is indeed set to become a Newcastle United player.
Now the same journalist (Reşat Can Özbudak) has made public details of the contract.
He reports that the midfielder has agreed to a four-year contract with Newcastle United and that NUFC have the option of adding a fifth year as time goes on.
Reşat Can Özbudak adding that the agreement between the two clubs will see the teenager stay for this 2026/27 season on loan with Gençlerbirliği to get regular first team football and help his development. However, he adds that this loan deal also includes a mid-season recall clause where Newcastle United can decide to bring him to Tyneside in January 2027 if they so choose..
The 18-year-old midfielder has made rapid progress after only joining Turkish top tier side Gençlerbirliği from Guinean side Académie SOAR in December 2025.
The midfielder made 10 appearances for the Gençlerbirliği under 19s and then seven first team appearances so far.
Such has been his progress, Ousmane Diabaté was capped at senior level by Guinea this summer, at the age of only 18.
His latest first team game was against an expensively assembled Fenerbahce side that included the likes of Nathan Ake,
Mattéo Guendouzi, Marco Asensio and Milan Skriniar. That opening league match of the season saw Ousmane Diabaté start and help his teammates pull off a shock 2-1 win over Fenerbahce.
The midfielder will turn 19 next month (September 2026).
Once the deal is formally announced, Ousmane Diabaté will become the seventh Newcastle United signing of the summer.
Around £180m has so far been committed to the signings of three 20-year-olds in Bazoumana Toure, Ewen Jaouen and Aladji Bamba. Plus 18-year-old Sean Steur and 24-year-olds Lukas Hornicek and Amar Dedic.
No news as yet on what the transfer fee will be for Ousmane Diabaté.
