We are almost done when it comes to international involvement for Newcastle United players.
Monday saw two more ticked off as their national sides played out the final games of this international break.
It ended France 4 Belgium 1 in Paris but that doesn’t tell half the story of this match.
Ten minutes before the break Dodi Lukebakio gave Belgium the lead. Romeo Lavia’s stunning 60-yard pass picking him out and he confidently beat the home keeper.
Which is how things then stood until 77 minutes on the clock.
France frustrated and unable to breach a solid Belgium defence, only for Desire Doue’s low shot from outside the box to at last level things.
It became one of those matches where once the dominant team managed to get the first goal, the floodgates opened. Rayan Cherki putting France into the lead and then two more late goals added by Michael Olise.
Newcastle United’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo remained an unused substitute throughout.
Also on Monday, a friendly ended Uganda 1 DR Congo 1. The visitors scoring late in the first half but denied a win in the 89th minute when Uganda scrambled a late equaliser. Yoane Wissa not in the matchday squad.
Earlier reports claimed all of DR Congo’s first choice players had been released from the squad after their two AFCON group qualifier wins in September, when the Newcastle striker scored twice and got an assist.
However, whilst the DR Congo manager changed the entire starting eleven for Friday’s 2-0 friendly defeat to Uganda, for Monday’s game the likes of former Newcastle defender Chancel Mbemba did start the game.
However, it appears that Yoane Wissa was one of those who was authorised to leave the squad and great news for Newcastle that he only played the first two of the four DR Congo games.
By the end of Tuesday night we will be able to tick the final Newcastle United internationals off. With Sean Steur, Aladji Bamba, Lukas Hornicek and Lewis Hall potentially playing in today’s games.
This is the September and October 2026 international schedule for Newcastle United players:

The United star then grabbing a goal of his own when a shot came back off the post and he smashed the rebound into the roof of the net.
Czech Republic 0 England 2
Lewis Hall outstanding in this victory against a Czech side that were a man down after 25 minutes. Anthony Gordon just pipped this United star to the man of the match award as they combined superbly down the left side. Less said about most of their teammates the better! Gordon opening the scoring with a very clever header, Kane then taking advantage of a free shot from ten yards out as the ball fell kindly. Newcastle’s Lukas Hornicek watching this Nations League clash from the bench.
